not a good blogger
I am apparently not a good blogger. It's partially that we really haven't been running like we should have. But it's also that I just haven't gotten around to updating this.
Of runs that I have stored in my watch - I have three. I'm afraid that really might be the number of times that I've run since I last wrote.
Apparently, on Tuesday November 22, I ran 22:37:13. Honestly, that was so long ago I don't even remember it. Sounds like a pretty short run - oh wait! I do remember. When I met Brant that night, he had gone early and already started. He ran 3 laps and I ran one. I was going to have him run another with me, but my knee was really bugging me, so I stopped after the one lap.
On Saturday November 26, we ran 1:12:11. We were in Columbus, Ohio and ran around a golf course that we were staying on. Brant's family has a reunion every year, and this year they rented a house on a golf course. Anyway, there was no way to really know how far we ran. Brant ran with me and we did 5/1s. We did enough that I figured we ran at least six miles.
It was really cold that day - so I wore my long johns, because at least they're made of synthetics, so I thought maybe it would be better than cotton. My stomach got very cold and red, and my arms and legs were cold - but I was still sweating - I wore a hat and my hair was soaked.
It was a pretty nice run though - I had actually wanted to stop around half an hour, but kept going and started feeling much better. The golf course was pretty hilly, so it made for a nice run. We were supposed to do 18 miles, I think - but I figure - it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving - I was pretty impressed that we went at all - especially since it was so cold! (I think it was 34 degrees).
Then last Sunday - December 4th, I went on a run. Brant was sick, so he didn't go. I was supposed to do 20 miles, and I was going to do my best. I did 5/1s, and was feeling really good. My knee wasn't bugging me and it was cool, but not cold. Though it was pretty windy. And then it started to rain. And the rain was freezing - especially coupled with the wind. And then my knee started acting up - I was probably running funny trying to keep warm. So I ended up running a little over 12 miles. And the last few miles were a lot slower, because of my knee and apparently I thought it was good to run slower when I was cold. Here are my splits:
1. 10:39:32
2. 11:06:04
3. 10:52:11
4. 10:09:32
5. 10:25:89
6. 11:06:19
7. 11:08:71
8. 11:16:19
9. 11:15:66
10. 29:34:11 (this was about 2.15 - but there are no lines to track progress)
11. 11:53:48
Total: 2:19:27
We were supposed to run 15 miles this past weekend. Brant was still sick, and I couldn't quite muster the motivation, even knowing that there are only 3 more weekends before the marathon. This week will be busy, and then we're headed home for Christmas. So, the next few runs will be in Los Alamos - which should be interesting. Not only will it be much colder, but also much higher elevation.
Hopefully - I'll keep you updated!!
